Crystal Palace Academy director Gary Issott says the addition of Yohan Cabaye will lift the club's young players.
The 29-year-old Frenchman has experience at Premier League, Champions League and international level, and Issott think it will only improve the quality and act as an inspiration.
"People talk about the affect Eric Cantona had at Manchester United," he told the Croydon Advertiser.
"Top players show how much they practice and stay on after training and I think anything like that is good.
"I remember Robin Van Persie talking about Dennis Bergkamp and that it was an inspiration to watch in training, that he never gave the ball away and everything he did in training was immaculate.
"Working with the best and seeing the best can only act as an inspiration, and also a reality check that it's practice that gets you to where you want to go.
"It's not luck or God given talent, it's repetition of deliberate practice really on your game.
"So every time a wonderful player like Yohan Cabaye comes to Palace, it's an inspiration to everybody, coaching staff and players."
