West Bromwich Albion boss Alan Irvine praised fans for supporting captain Chris Brunt during victory at Tottenham.
Brunt was backed by the travelling fans and set-up James Morrison's winner.
"It was great," said Irvine.
"I was really pleased the fans were backing him. Chris is an important player for this club. He has been for many years and will continue to be. There was no thought in my mind to leave him out or stripping him of the captaincy, as some people were suggesting. He is a really good professional and he performed really well.
"This is my most satisfying day for West Bromwich Albion. It's great to get that first win."
