Manchester City midfielder Stephen Ireland admits he is lapping up their Double success against Manchester United.

"It's brilliant to have taken six points off our rivals and it is a massive achievement," he told City's website. "After the history of not beating them at Old Trafford for years it's just great for the fans and great for the Club.

"The Manager stressed the record to us before the game and being the occasion that it was, he told us to go out there with no fear, and that's what we did.

"We fought like lions, hit them on the break quickly, were very effective and took the game to them.

"All week we trained really well and were prepared for it. During the game it was punch for punch, they'd keep possession, then we'd keep possession. It went on blow for blow, but we took our chances and they couldn't."
