Manchester City midfielder Stephen Ireland is set for an improved contract.

The News of the World says Ireland, 22, signed a five-year deal only 14 months ago, earning him £25,000 a week.

But Ireland is in line to pick up the £40,000 being paid to the club's other outstanding youngsters, Michael Johnson and Micah Richards.
