Iran international Beitashour leaves San Jose Earthquakes for Vancouver Whitecaps

Vancouver Whitecaps have acquired defender Steven Beitashour from San Jose Earthquakes.

The 26-year old US-born Iran international heads to British Columbia in exchange for allocation money. Per Major League Soccer and club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Whitecaps head coach Carl Robinson was thrilled to sign Beitashour who has been a star for the Quakes over the past couple of MLS seasons.

"Steven is arguably the best right back in the league," said Robinson.

"He is fantastic on the defensive side of the ball and his ability to join the attack will make him a great addition to our club."

Beitashour, who has played three times for the Iranian national team, appeared 87 times for San Jose over four seasons, recording 16 assists and scoring two goals.
