Ipswich wait for Portsmouth's Nugent

Ipswich will sign Portsmouth striker David Nugent on-loan - once he is fit.

The clubs have agreed a deal for the 22-year-old former Preston forward, who scored Pompey's FA Cup third round winner at Ipswich in January but has been chosen to start just four Premier League games.

Nugent, who cost Pompey £6million during the summer, has recovered from a hernia operation last month but now has a groin muscle tear.

Ipswich are hopeful of completing the deal this weekend but a source said: "David wants to be fully fit first so that he can justify himself at Portman Road."

Boss Harry Redknapp has already admitted the move could become permanent if Nugent does well for the East Anglian side.
