Ipswich Town defender Tommy Smith will miss New Zealand's international double header because of a back injury.
The 20-year old came on as a late sub to score the winner for the Tractor Boys against Leeds United in England's Championship on the weekend but a prolapsed disc in his lower back will not allow him to travel home for the matches against Honduras and Paraguay on Saturday and Tuesday.
All Whites physiotherapist Roland Jeffery confirmed that Smith would not be risked.
"Given the amount of games Tommy has faced recently, the addition of long-haul travel was not going to be conducive to his rehabilitation," said Jeffery.
"Ricki (Herbert, the All Whites' coach) has spoken to Tommy and to the club's medical staff and we all feel it is in Tommy's best interest to stay at the club to manage the injury."
