Ipswich striker Chopra closes Twitter account after posting pic of cash

Ipswich Town striker Michael Chopra has closed his own Twitter account after uploading a picture of a bag full of £20 bills.

The 29-year old, who has a well-publicised gambling addiction, posted the photo along with the message: "Keep tweeting me about being in debt haha love it £cash £skint £lol £lendmeafiver."

Chopra spoke in 2011 about how he lost up to £2million gambling and was given £250,000 by his club to pay off debts.

His Ipswich teammate Jay-Emmanuel Thomas felt the post went a bit over the top: "Michael Chopra your a clown."

An Ipswich spokesman confirmed that Chopra's Twitter account had been closed upon his own will and urged players to be careful with what they post.

"Sometimes banter can be a little over the top," the spokesman said.

"In an era when fans don't get close to players it's a good communication tool, but players should think before they tweet."
