Ipswich signing Collins took some persuading to leave Stoke

Ipswich Town loan signing Danny Collins admits he took persuading in leaving Stoke City.

Collins revealed that Ipswich boss Paul Jewell had been after his signature since the start of pre-season, eventually getting his man last Friday afternoon and then throwing him straight into the side.

He told the East Anglia Times: "I wanted to stay around Stoke and see how it was going to go. I didn't play in the first couple of games and was pretty frustrated to be sat on the bench. I then spoke to the gaffer there and said I wanted to go out on loan and play some football.

"There was Nottingham Forest, Ipswich and one or two others but having already spoken to Paul, he was pretty keen on me coming down here. I knew five or six of the boys and asked them about it and they all said what a good club it is. We just need to turn it around on the pitch."
