Ipswich poised to loan Man City defender Wabara

Ipswich Town boss Paul Jewell is hoping to conclude a deal for Manchester City defender Reece Wabara on loan. The 19-year-old right-back made his only senior appearance on the final day of last season, coming on as a late substitute against Bolton.

"We're hoping that will get done today [Thursday]," he told BBC Radio Suffolk.

A right-back who can fill in at centre-half, Wabara spent the summer with England at the Under-20 World Cup.

"He's an England Under-20 international, is quick, can play at centre-back but right-back is his preferred position," Jewell added.

"Jack Ainsley's done well, but I feel we need somebody else to push Carlos."
