Ipswich fans turn Portman Road into Robson shrine

Ipswich fans have turned Portman Road into a shrine in honour of the late Sir Bobby Robson.

The statue of Sir Bobby Robson that stands outside Ipswich Town's Portman Road ground was awash with flowers and scarves as supporters of the club he always referred to as 'my baby' paid tribute to the man who managed their team for 13 years.

Fans began flocking to the ground as soon as the news broke and by Saturday night the memorial was almost completely covered as the statue became the focal point for their grief.

Ipswich have also put on display this week a special book of remembrance for club president Sir Bobby in the Centre Spot restaurant at the ground and by thousands have now signed it, many in tears, after making their pilgrimage.
