Ipswich defender Connolly surprised by lack of Everton contact

Everton defender Callum Connolly admits he's surprised by the lack of contact he's had during his loan at Ipswich Town.

The 20-year-old is enjoying his football in the south-east and hasn't ruled out a permanent move.

“I've had contact with Everton, but not as much as I expected," Connolly told the Ipswich Star. “I think they've just let me get on with my football.

“There hasn't been as much support as I've wanted to be honest, but obviously it's a man's game and I'm learning the game on my own.

“When there are not that many people around you supporting you it can be tough, but that's when you come into your own. I feel like I am growing up.

“It's not easy coming away from home. It's five hours from mine in the car. I haven't been home much, but it's all character building. I needed this in my career. I needed to come away from home, come out of my comfort zone.

“It's been tough at times, I admit that, but I am enjoying my football."
