Ipswich have moved to open new contract talks with winger Jonathan Walters.

Walters has been linked with Stoke City and Wigan in the past week and Magilton told the club's official website: "We are talking to Jon about a new contract.

"There was a lot of speculation about him through the summer but he is a very important player for us.

"We have taken him from the lower divisions and given him a platform to come and play and he is a catalyst for a lot of good things that we are doing here."
