Ipswich boss McCarthy wowed by Arsenal youngster Maitland-Niles

Arsenal loanee Ainsley Maitland-Niles has earned the praise of Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy following an impressive start to his loan spell at the Championship outfit.

The 17-year-old has started in all three of Ipswich's fixtures to kick off the 2015/16 campaign and has provided plenty of attacking spark on the wing for the Tractor Boys.

"Wow. The talent of him; I think he's going to play for Arsenal, there's no doubt in my mind," McCarthy told BBC Radio Suffolk.

"We are just so lucky to have him.

"Nobody knew anything about him. I watched him play against Reading for [Arsenal's] under-21s last season and I thought he was great.

"I enquired about him in January, but they needed him for their Champions League squad."

Maitland-Niles' loan club currently sit on top of the tier to table with seven points from their three outings following Tuesday night's 2-0 home win over Burnley in which the promising teenager played 84 minutes.
