Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy is a shock target for Crystal Palace.

The Daily Star Sunday says Palace are considering McCarthy, who has been on the shortlist for the Republic of Ireland job, which is now expected to go to former Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill.

Tony Pulis, an early front runner for the Palace job, does not see himself as a serious contender for the position - and more significantly neither do Palace, whose long list of candidates includes Wales boss Chris Coleman.
