Ipswich boss Keane wants Sunderland's Colback for rest of season

Ipswich Town boss Roy Keane is hoping Sunderland youngster Jack Colback can stay on loan for the remainder of the Championship season.

The 21-year old midfielder initially joined the Tractor Boys on loan in August 2009, spending the rest of the 2009/10 season at Portman Road and was an instant hit.

He returned to Ipswich in October last year and the current loan is set to expire this month but Keane wants him to stay on a contract extension.

"Of course I'd like to keep Jack, he's my kind of player," Keane told Ipswich's official website.

"We're talking to Sunderland but a lot can happen in a couple of weeks so we will have to wait and see.

"Sometimes a player wants a bit more security than a loan move and I understand that. He's an intelligent lad and needs to look after himself. I'd do the same if I was in his position.

"We won't be the only club interested in him though. There's a long way to go yet before anything will be sorted."
