Inverness reap the financial benefit of striker Niculae's involvement in Euro 2008

The inclusion of Inverness frontman Marius Niculae in Romania's squad for the finals has had an unexpected financial benefit for the SPL club.

FIFA and UEFA agreed earlier this year to pay compensation to clubs whose players appear at major tournaments, and Inverness will collect £3,000 per day from UEFA while Romania remain involved. So far they have drawn with both France and Italy in Group C.

Should Romania beat Holland, they will join the Dutch in the quarter-finals, and a draw will suffice if the World Cup final repeat between Italy and France finishes goalless, knocking out both fancied sides.

By finishing runners-up in Group C, Romania would go on to face the winners of Group D in Vienna on Sunday, June 22.

Inverness manager Craig Brewster stands to see his transfer budget increase as a result of the windfall, which will have a greater impact for Caley Thistle than such funds would at a larger club.
