Brazilian striker Gilberto Oliveira has arrived in Toronto ahead of a Wednesday medical with Toronto FC.
The 24-year old, who has starred on loan at Portuguesa from Internacional this season, is one step closer to becoming a TFC Designated Player after reports in Canada emerged that the physical was set for this week.
Gilberto said through a translator: "I'm coming to a very good side. I also appreciate the quality of life here. And I want to open a new market in Major League Soccer for Brazilians. The primary job is to win titles."
The scorer of 14 goals in Brazil's top flight in 2013, Gilberto added: "MLS has a lot of room to grow. I want to do part of the work to help MLS grow up."
It is believed that the deal to join the Reds is worth around $5million although the transfer fee to Internacional is at this stage unknown.
