Internacional chief Giovanni Luigi admits Tottenham have pushed hard for Leandro Damiao.
The Brazil striker has been a long-term target for Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.
"Last year Tottenham made two offers for Leandro Damiao. We kept him and he was very important," Luigi said.
"He is Internacional's top scorer in Libertadores and Brazil's national team number 9."
