Inter Milan have rejected Espanyol's request to extend Samuele Longo's loan into next season.
Longo moved to La Liga on a one-year loan in August and has impressed already.
Spanish media suggest Espanyol asked if they could keep Longo past the June 2013 deadline, but the Nerazzurri have every intention of taking him back.
