Inter Milan veteran Vieira defends ex-Arsenal teammate Henry over handball row

Inter Milan midfielder Patrick Vieira says former Arsenal teammate Thierry Henry should be condemned for hand-ball last week.

Vieira was left out of the France squad for their World Cup playoff with the Republic of Ireland.

"I honestly find it shocking," said Vieira, "even as far as the images are concerned, I'm surprised. The referee did not see his hand, that's all.

"One can understand that the Irish are disgusted, but not for the first nor the last time we saw errors in football. The slow motion or a fifth official, or both, are perhaps the solution to remedy it."
