Inter Milan have been disappointed with John Carew's initial fitness tests.

Inter are handing the former Aston Villa and West Ham United striker a trial this week as they consider him as a short-term replacement for knee injury victim Diego Milito.

Tuttosport says Carew is starting from a long way back given his first assessment by Inter fitness staff.

Also, contrary to earlier reports, the Norway striker will get seven days - not ten - to prove himself worthy of a contract.
