Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho is aiming to trump old foe Arsene Wenger for Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Andrei Arshavin.
Arsenal have been in talks with Zenit St Petersburg all month about the 27-year-old Russian international playmaker.
But the Gunners are baulking at Zenit's £25m valuation of a player who has never proved himself outside his own country.
And now Wenger's hopes of pulling off a cut-price signing have been hit by Mourinho's Inter Milan entering the market, says the Daily Star.
It is unlikely the Italians will agree to Zenit's demands, but may be willing to go to around £15m.
