Inter Milan captain Javier Zanetti was proud of their performance after their Champions League defeat to Manchester United.

"We do have a few regrets, but we leave the competition with our heads held high," said Zanetti.

"I must say that I am proud of my teammates, because we showed a great deal of character in a difficult arena.

"In the first half especially Inter took the initiative and dominated the match, but unfortunately the ball did not want to go in."

Inter exit the Champions League in the second round for the third year running and must now focus on the Scudetto.

"We are leading Serie A, there are 11 games to go and we must do everything we can to win it. The Coach knows he can trust us."
