New Inter Milan defender Cristian Chivu has welcomed comparisons made by coach Roberto Mancini with Sinisa Mihajlovic.

"It is a wonderful comparison that puts even more responsibility on my shoulders. Sinisa was a great player and I grew up watching him, so it's very pleasing to be compared to him."

Chivu joins a Scudetto winning squad that is packed with talented defenders, so President Massimo Moratti noted he too would have to fight for his place.

"It is only right that it's the case, as in all big clubs a player must give his best to deserve a spot," responded the ex-Ajax man.

"I will do everything I can and give the utmost effort. Then, if the Coach decides I deserve to play, I will do."
