Inter Milan's Sneijder: Barcelona tried to screw us with sprinklers

Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder has mocked Barcelona over the sprinkler controversy last week. After Inter's Champions League triumph on Wednesday night, Barca turned on the sprinklers only in the half of the pitch where the away camp were celebrating with their fans.

The actions have been condemned around the world and Sneijder, a former Real Madrid player, told Radio Marca: "We won. We were red hot and needed to cool off! We were happy for the water!"

Barca midfielder Xavi claimed the sprinklers were needed to prevent Inter away fans from invading pitch.

"Not true! Rubbish," snapped Sneijder.

"They turned on the sprinklers to screw us. But it didn't work. We did not care!"
