Michael Bolingbroke is leaving Manchester United for Inter Milan.
The Daily Mail says Italian sources state the chief operating officer was headhunted by Inter's new billionaire Indonesian owner Erick Thohir who is keen to tap into United's methods.
United watchers claim Bolingbroke had become marginalised in the Old Trafford power game by the new leadership duo of Ed Woodward and Richard Arnold, who have been so successful on the commercial front.
But United describe Bolingbroke's new job in Italy as a promotion and regard his staying on, working in Manchester until June, as a sign of how relaxed they are about him leaving.
