Inter Milan president Erick Thohir says qualifying for the Champions League is their target this season.

The Nerazzurri are joint-top of Serie A with Fiorentina, following eight wins from their opening 12 games.

“Some new players will come in [in January]," Thohir told Guerin Sportivo.

“I've always said that three years after my arrival Inter are supposed to return to the Champions League, and return permanently.

“Now though we have the opportunity to do so by winning the League, and that's the unexpected thing. Inter are a great team right now, but we'll do everything to be even more competitive.

“People say we could be more spectacular? That just means there's margin for improvement."
