Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti accepts the decision to sack coach Roberto Mancini has left a lot of confusion.

He said last night: "It's very difficult to explain this decision. I realise that at this time it looks a poor one.

"When you decide a separation, especially after a period in which there has been great passion, the first days are always the worst. I know how important Mancini was to Inter and I have not forgotten what he achieved with us, especially in the last two years.

"He's been so good for the club and I have always said this."
