Inter Milan are already drawing up a new deal for coach Andrea Stramaccioni.
The rookie boss, just 36, will be handed a two-year contract on improved terms with the option for another year.
Inter's derby win on Sunday over AC Milan convinced president Massimo Moratti to go with Stramaccioni: "It's a clever solution. We'll save money for the transfer market."
