Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti insists the dismissal of coach Roberto Mancini was the right decision.

"I would like to thank Mancini again," said Moratti. "I have already done that, both in person and through the media.

"The divorce has been a painful, but necessary choice made in the interests of the squad."

Asked about a looming compo battle, Moratti added: "I do not know if the event will finish in front of a judge. I hope common sense will prevail."
