Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti insists he meant no offence when talking about the age of LA Galaxy midfielder David Beckham over his move to AC Milan.

Moratti said: "My joke about Beckham? Frankly, there was no type of offense intended. Indeed, it was a compliment, like saying he had a very good past, he could afford at this time to make a move which, incidentally, is certainly useful, if they have calculated it in that way.

"So if I was critical, then I am sorry to have taken that point of view."
