Inter Milan midfielder Ricky Alvarez has played down his World Cup hopes.
Alvarez is being tipped for a call up to the Argentina squad.
"2014 is an important year," he told Sky Sport Italia. "I want to do well for Inter - one of the most important teams in the world.
"I feel important here, and want to do well for the club this season. And everyone knows there is a World Cup at the end of the season - it is a unique opportunity.
"But I know that if I don't do well for Inter then the World Cup won't come my way.
"I have to do well for Inter if I want to play for Argentina."
