Inter Milan jump ahead of Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid in Lautaro Martinez battle

Inter Milan appear to have won the race for Racing Club striker Lautaro Martinez.

Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid had all expressed interest in the young attacker, but found Racing's asking price too rich.

However, Argentine media sources say Inter now are set to win the race for his signature by offering €18m for Martinez's transfer - which is the price of his buyout clause.

Inter's good relationship with Racing is also helping smooth negotiations. Former Inter striker Diego Milito is now a director at Racing and his former teammate, Javier Zanetti, is leading negotiations from the Nerazzurri's side of the table.

In Italy, they say no concrete bid had been tabled, though there is a confidence Inter are willing to meet Martinez's buyout clause to take him to Europe this summer.
