Inter Milan insist Maicon not for sale

Inter Milan insist Douglas Maicon is a required player.

Some stories in Italy have been suggesting that the South American has left for Brazil ahead of a switch, but the Nerazzurri insist his absence is for private matters.

"Internazionale wishes to reiterate that Maicon, who is suspended for next Sunday's Coppa Italia Final, has been granted leave for personal reasons, as explained by Leonardo during last Saturday's Press conference before Inter v Catania," a club statement read.

"The recent media speculation regarding the player is therefore both incomprehensible and entirely groundless."
