Inter Milan reportedly want incoming boss Rafael Benitez to make Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano his first prime transfer target.

Benitez is set to be unveiled as the new boss of Inter early next week but it is believed that the club have already sounded out Mascherano's representatives in regards to a shift from Anfield to the San Siro.

Inter are also keen to bring Dutchman Dirk Kuyt to again play under Benitez with a mooted £33million deal being tabled to secure the Reds duo.

It has also been reported that Barcelona and Chelsea may make a play for Mascherano, who is busy skippering the Argentina national team in South Africa.
