Inter Milan GM Branca fires back at Sneijder over 'poor treatment' claims

Inter Milan GM Marco Branca has dismissed complaints from Galatasaray midfielder Wesley Sneijder.

Sneijder slammed Inter this week over the way he was treated last season.

But Branca declared: "We bought Wesley when he was out of the project at Real. With us, he won right away and just missed the Ballon d'Or. That's the truth.

"In fact we never received formal offers for Sneijder. Only one came from Galatasaray. After the treble there was no offer."

Branca continued: "In December, for issues related to his contract I asked him for a meeting: I wanted to discuss a possible 'adjustment'.

"He would have earned more, but at the same time it would ease the economic impact over the season on the club. He did not accept this, but it was his right.

"So, it was our right to inform him that due to our economic problems we had to put one of our best players on the market. Through this announcement a club came forward with a concrete and right offer: Galatasaray.

"They met our needs and those of Wes. We sold him for €7.5 million and came out ahead."
