The young Argentine appeared all set to sign for Inter last week on a free transfer.

However, Mediaset says negotiations have stalled over a five-year contract and AS Roma are now actively making a counter offer.

But Inter are still in the lead, having held lengthy talks with agent Fernando Hidalgo. Botta's salary would begin at €1 million, with that to jump in the second season.
