Corriere dello Sport says Moratti has lost patience with Roberto Mancini and intends to dismiss him at the end of this season - even if the Scudetto is successfully defended.
Former Chelsea boss Mourinho is Moratti's No1 choice to succeed Mancini and aware that Barcelona, Real Madrid and AC Milan are also keen, the Inter supremo is willing to hand the Portuguese a four-year deal worth £4 million-a-season.
Via Mourinho's representatives, Moratti has already received a fax detailing the Portuguese's coaching methods and plans he sees for Inter. The big stumbling block for the Inter president will be convincing Mourinho to work within the club's current football structure - including with directors Marco Branca and Lele Oriali.
Wherever he goes, Mourinho is adamant he wants total control on all football matters.
