Inter Milan management were delighted to see Patrick Vieira come through unscathed in their Birra Moretti trophy clash with Napoli.

It was Vieira's first showing since undergoing knee surgery and he completed 45 minutes against the Serie A new-boys showing no ill-effects.

The France international's performance is expected to see Inter shelve plans to add a new defensive midfielder to Roberto Mancini's squad for the new season.
