Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho is battling former club Chelsea for Sevilla striker Luis Fabiano.
Blues boss Luiz Felipe Scolari has kept close tabs on the £20million rated Brazil international this season, while mega-rich Manchester City are also interested in Fabiano.
With Didier Droba's Stamford Bridge future unclear, Scolari is eager to bolster his attacking ranks - though the west London club were hoping to wait until the summer before bidding for the striker.
However, Chelsea may have to launch a move sooner than first planned after Mourinho identified Fabiano as one of his January transfer targets, says the Daily Mail.
The Serie A club are desperate to strengthen ahead of their Champions League second-round clash against Manchester United next month.
And Mourinho will move for the 28-year-old La Liga hitman before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month.
