Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho has declared he is ready to take charge of Real Madrid.
Mourinho expects to confirm his move this week, despite his Inter contract carrying a hefty £16m buy-out clause.
"It is a great challenge to go for the Liga against a Barcelona side that picked up 100 points, not to mention the Champions League," Mourinho told Portuguese television Tvi.
"Before I can sign for Madrid, I need to see a few people, some of whom I haven't spoken to yet.
"I saw my representative Jorge Mendes and the matter is practically done, but the final decision is mine, not his.
"I want to see what they can offer me to ensure I start my work without fear. I think the club will complete the contract. The Champions League Final was my last game with Inter. It was very difficult to say goodbye to the players.
"Moratti didn't say anything to me. He just hugged me close and that means more than a thousand words.
"Now I know that the Bernabeu will be my home for a while."
