Inter Milan captain Zanetti: We will be better in 2011

Inter Milan captain Javier Zanetti is adamant they will bounce back in 2011.

The Nerazzurri were beaten 3-1 at Lazio on Friday night, leaving them practically mid-table for their final Serie A game of 2010.

"We were not distracted by the Club World Cup," insisted the captain. "Now we have the Champions League game with Werder Bremen, which is still important so we can top the group.

"The objective then is to recover as many of our players as possible, as they are all important elements for the team.

"Last night's game was very strange. We conceded the opener with our error and should've avoided the second goal too, but then reacted and almost made it 2-2.

"It's a time when things aren't going our way, but we cannot do anything about that.

"Now we must focus on the Club World Cup, a competition we really care about and that could allow us to end a fantastic year in the best possible way," continued Zanetti.

"We hope to come back with a full squad so we can begin again at our best in 2011. We'll be able to catch up some of those points and take it one round at a time, then we'll see where we end up.

"The team is hungry and we must all give more, we are the first to admit that. Lately we have been missing over half the squad and it's not easy.

"We must be aware that, despite it all, we are still strong and have to stay united to emerge from these difficulties. One more push for the Club World Cup, then we can begin again in great shape for 2011."
