Inter Milan boss Mazzarri pleased with Guarin in central role

Inter Milan coach Walter Mazzarri was pleased with Fredy Guarin's performance in their 1-1 draw with Bologna.

Guarin is impressing in his new position as a support striker, but hit the crossbar at the Stadio Dall'Ara.

"Sometimes he gets mixed up in Rodrigo Palacio's space and doesn't give his best there, but he played well tonight and he'd usually score at least one of his chances. He needs to start from a deeper position, which sometimes he does better than others.

"We have many creative players who can push forward and score a goal, as that's the kind of football I like, one that doesn't give opponents too many reference points.

"We work a great deal in training on movement and tactics, so I prefer not to vary positions too much this early into the process. It is a growth process and we have a young team, so we are still going to make mistakes that we must learn from.

"If we want to stay at the top level, then we can't keep throwing points away like this."
