Inter Milan coach Walter Mazzarri plans crisis talks with Fredy Guarin.
The Colombia international was left frustrated - indeed floored - by Inter's refusal to let him leave during the summer market.
Among a raft of offers, came one from Real Madrid and another from Valencia on deadline day. But Inter refused to budge.
Guarin was shocked, particularly as he played little during the preseason tour of the US.
However, Gazzetta dello Sport says Mazzarri has big plans for the midfielder and did not want to lose him without a replacement found.
Now, the coach will sit down with Guarin to rebuild his confidence and also discuss his role with the team. Mazzarri has plans to play Guarin just behind Mauro Icardi in a new-look attacking partnership.
Inter coaching staff are convinced Guarin has the qualities to be a star in such a role - if Mazzarri can rebuild his self-belief.
