Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini insists Fredy Guarin has a future with him.
Guarin struggled in defeat to AS Roma.
Mancini said: "I think Guarin needs to understand when to attack and when to defend, but will be a very important player for us.
"We cannot achieve everything in a few months. We'll try to do the best we can and would certainly aim to qualify for the Champions League with two different paths to that.
"This team was built to play with a different system and different Coach in Mazzarri, so we are missing players in certain positions and need time to adapt. We have a month until the Christmas break and need to do all we can in this time."
