Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini explained dumping Andrea Ranocchia to the bench for victory over AC Milan.
Gary Medel was surprisingly picked as a centre-back to replace injured Joao Miranda, leaving former captain Ranocchia on the bench.
“Medel knows the two Milan strikers, as he played against them many times in South America, and also played regularly in the back four for Chile," said Mancini.
“Ranocchia was not in his best form, while Medel is a bit quicker. Perisic can play many positions, but I only got him three days ago in training and we'll have more time to settle the new players in.
“The team is not yet able to stay compact and aggressive, but with time we'll find better fitness levels and the performances will improve too.
“Murillo has to shake off this habit of mistakes and bad back-passes, but he's young and will learn."
