Inter Milan boss Luciano Spalletti shrugs off Sion defeat

Inter Milan boss Luciano Spalletti has played down their friendly defeat to Sion.

Inter lost 2-0 on Wednesday night.

“Our opponents deservedly won, as we saw from the start that they were moving quicker and stronger than us," Spalletti told Inter TV.

“There was only one way to make up for the difference in fitness levels and that was keeping the ball. We didn't manage it, so we used up our energy quicker and then struggled towards the end.

“We had two tough fitness sessions and today were consequently not very sharp. The differences were evident from the start."

The next friendly match will be against Spalletti's old club Zenit St Petersburg in Pisa on Saturday.

“It'll be a pleasure to meet with Zenit again, a club that I am very fond of. It'll also be a useful game to give a sense of consistency to our work.

“We'll be a little more careful, spreading out the fitness training schedule between tomorrow and the day after, so we'll be a little fresher on Saturday."
