Inter Milan boss Gian Piero Gasperini admits he plans to field Wesley Sneijder in attack this season.
Manchester United target Sneijder does not fit into Gasperini's playing formation.
"I see Sneijder as a forward," confirmed Gasperini. "He is one of the most important players in the world right now and I hope he can have an exceptional campaign.
"We do have a large squad and I consider Sneijder to be a forward, although obviously he can be used in different roles when needed. We have numerous options and this is why I have great faith in this team."
It is reported the Dutchman will be dropped for Sunday night's trip to Palermo, as he'll then take cup-tied Diego Forlan's place in the Champions League.
"I made a bet with Wesley. Last season he scored four goals in 25 games, while I am convinced he'll have more. The position isn't a problem, as we have a basic structure and can place many variations upon it. This controversy is stirred up by the media, as it's not as if Inter will collapse if Sneijder doesn't play."
