Inter Milan have announced defender Walter Samuel has suffered a serious knee injury in the 1-1 draw with Brescia.
It was immediately clear that 32-year-old Samuel had a very serious injury, as he knocked knees with Andrea Caracciolo to push his leg backwards.
"The tests have found a serious rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and collateral ligament in the right knee," read a statement on the official club website.
"Over the next few days we will plan the reconstructive surgery."
Samuel's season is effectively over, as he suffered a similar setback in 2007 that kept him out for nine months, but that was in his left knee.
